The showroom for the 2019 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers – now a marquee event on the Paris Women’s Fall-Winter Fashion Week calendar – took place on March 1st and 2nd at the headquarters of the LVMH Group in Paris. The 20 designers shortlisted presented their creations to 62 experts and prominent members of the fashion industry, including Delphine Arnault and creative directors from LVMH Group Maisons.
First held in 2014, the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers met with resounding success this year with a record 1,700 candidates from more than 100 countries around the world.
The 20 designers shortlisted by the Prize Selection Committee had two days to present their creations to 62 international fashion experts during a showroom at LVMH headquarters in Paris. For this year’s semi-final the LVMH Prize was also delighted to welcome influencer and entrepreneur Chiara Ferragni as ambassador and a new member of the expert committee.
The creations by the 20 designers selected for this sixth edition showed a balanced mix between womenswear, menswear and unisex collections, with eight collections for women, seven for men and five unisex. To further boost the international exposure of these young designers, the LVMH Prize is innovating this year with support from the 24 Sèvres website, which will market a selection of pieces designed by the eight finalists, as well as the collection of the winner in September. The winner of the LVMH Prize will be announced by the Jury during a ceremony at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in June.
