For over 50 years, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has been honoring the biggest names of US fashion. The yearly awards ceremony took place at the Lincoln Center in New York on June 2.

The Council, created in 1962, is comprised of over 400 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear and accessories designers and is currently presided by Diane Von Furstenberg. This year the CFDA honors the achievements of Dior’s Creative Director Raf Simons with the prestigious International Award. During his first two years at Dior, Raf Simons managed to make an unforgettable mark on the Parisian House, his masterful creations offering a fresh and modern twist to Dior’s emblematic image.

Raf Simons became the fourth LVMH designer to have been honored by the CFDA. In 2009, the award went to Marc Jacobs, former Creative Director of Louis Vuitton, as well as his eponymous brand. In 2011, the CFDA presented its International Award to Phoebe Philo, Creative Director of Céline. Finally, in 2013 the organization celebrated Riccardo Tisci, Creative Director of Givenchy.
