The LVMH Tower in New York provided a symbolic setting for the reveal of the TAG Heuer Connected Watch, the first connected watch designed by a luxury Swiss watchmaker. Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer & President of the LVMH Group’s Watches Division, Brian Kraznich, CEO of Intel Corporation, and David Singleton, VP Engineering Android at Google, were on hand for the launch of this remarkable watch, which combines connectivity and intelligence with Swiss watchmaking savoir-faire.
The TAG Heuer Connected Watch is a luxury watch that expresses TAG Heuer’s unique heritage. At 46 mm in diameter, the design is that of a true chronograph, with a case, back and lugs made from grade 2 titanium, a textured rubber strap and a sapphire crystal touchscreen. The entire piece is water resistant for everyday use (rated IP67).
The launch version has three digital watch dials that replicate the look and features of a watch face and reprise the design codes of the TAG Heuer Carrera collection. The digital hands remain visible in energy-saving mode to show the time. Applications are displayed in the three counters on the dial, seamlessly integrated in the watch’s aesthetic environment. They can be opened in full screen mode simply by touching the counter.
Connectivity features at the launch include exclusively available customized apps with free subscriptions: Insiders (lifestyle), GolfShot Pro (golf), RaceChrono Pro (motor racing) and Viewrangers (trailing). These applications are joined by classic watch functions (timer, alarm and stopwatch), as well as Google apps like Google Fit, Google Translate, Google Maps and the voice-activated “OK Google” search function. Thousands of Android Wear applications are already available for download to the TAG Heuer Connected Watch.
The watch can be easily synced with phones running Android 4.3+ and iOS 8.2+, and is charged using a contact charger. The lithium battery has an all day battery life.
The TAG Heuer Connected Watch also offers a timeless invitation to the world of TAG Heuer. A the end of the two-year warranty, owners have an opportunity to exchange it for a mechanical Swiss Made Carrera watch of similar design, developed exclusively for TAG Heuer Connected owners.
