At the Baselworld World Watch and Jewelry Show, the watch industry’s premier event, TAG Heuer presented its 2017 lineup of new timepieces, including a reissue of the iconic Autavia chronograph worn by legendary racing drivers and pilots.

Baselworld 2017 welcomed the return of the Autavia, the iconic chronograph created by Jack Heuer in 1962. A contraction of AUTomobile and AVIAtion, the name is synonymous with the large rotating bezel of the watch, which was worn by legendary drivers including F1 champion Mario Andretti and Steve McQueen. The contemporary version is the result of an unprecedented interactive campaign with TAG Heuer fans who voted for the Autavia 2446 Mark 3 as their favorite among historic models during the Autavia Cup in spring 2016.

The 42 mm diameter case is water resistant to 100 meters. The watch reprises the black rotating bezel and three large counters, with a date aperture at 6 o’clock and the Heuer-02 proprietary self-winding chronograph movement. In conjunction with the launch, TAG Heuer has also released a book entitled “Autavia – Story of an Icon”, inviting readers to immerse themselves in the history and heritage of this legendary watch.

TAG Heuer unveiled new models of the Carrera Heuer-01 at Baselworld too. The model with a 43 mm case comes in three versions – intense black, deep navy blue and cognac brown. The other, the Carrera Heuer-01 Rose Gold, is plated with 18K rose gold. The Aquaracer Camouflage 300 Meters calibre 5 has a camouflage or khaki print, while the Carrera Heuer-02T has a bezel set with 68 baguette diamonds, and the Steel Link calibre 5 for men has a larger 41 mm diameter case. TAG Heuer has also revisited the Link Lady with a bracelet integrated with the case, as well as the Carrera Lady 2017, with a new modular design.
