Welcome to Cannes!

Each spring, all eyes (and cameras) zoom in on the French Riviera as actors, directors and producers come together, joined by film buffs for a cinema love fest. This is the place to be and be seen, whether walking up the red carpeted steps or at one of the prestigious events hosted during the Festival. Welcome to Cannes, the annual must event for the film industry.

For two weeks the city becomes the movie capital of the world as actors and actresses shine, directors and producers meet, and young talents get ready for stardom. Everyone who’s anyone in the film industry is within the 20 square kilometer perimeter of the city, a very small stage watched by millions of TV viewers the world over. The Festival is the third most watched event in the world, behind only the Olympics and the football World Cup.

This make Cannes an essential event for all the players. As the ultimate glamour rendez-vous, Cannes demands exceptional gowns and suits for the lucky few invited to walk the red carpet. LVMH couture Houses take meticulous care of the stars who represent them. The first close-up features Dior, which for years has made the unique spirit of the House available to its muses, from jewelry to makeup to sumptuous gowns. We’ll also be presenting a selection of emblematic gowns worn by some of our glamorous brand ambassadors.

Cannes is also the perfect stage to bring together A-list celebrities for eagerly awaited soirées. Social mixing often has a charitable side, notably at the amfAR gala. Each year, this event raises huge amounts of money to fund AIDS research. In 2014 Bulgari, represented on stage by its ambassador Carla Bruni, will provide sparkling support for the foundation.

Cannes is also a chance to look at some of the historical ties between the cinema and our Houses, including Fendi. Since its founding, the Italian House has been deeply immersed in the film world, from the legendary Cinecitta studios to a more recent collaboration with Wes Anderson for his movie The Grand Budapest Hotel. And before the final credits roll we’ll discover some of the latest creations from Belvedere vodka, which is unveiling some very special new drinks in Cannes. A perfect chance to connect with a trendsetting public.
