The Compliance & Regulatory Manager drives excellence in the management of all Compliance functions related to Product labelling and packaging at the Federal and State level for the active portfolio, including new products launches. The Compliance Manager is responsible for securing, streamlining, and enhancing the Compliance process at MHUSA.
He/she will proactively keep ahead of new compliance and regulatory changes and coordinate the response for MHUSA scope.
This role will support the Company’s short and long-term objectives in terms of growth, level of service, and agility.
Office/Location: Hybrid 3x a week based out of NYC Office
Job responsibilities
Compliance management for new and existing products:
- Be the local expert for MHSA on all Brand labelling and packaging compliance.
- Oversee and contribute to:
- Label review and COLA submission
- Filing and submission to TTB (formula, COLA waivers…)
- NABCA code applications
- State filings including registrations & renewals, Distributor assignment changes and appointments.
- Oversee all special requests from Global Maisons and Brand Teams requiring compliance documents.
Regulatory
- Stay on top of the latest public regulatory and policy developments in the USA in collaboration with MH USA Public Affairs department and be consulted to assess business impact of any new development.
- Anticipate and coordinate internally the implementation of new regulatory requirements {example; Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Organic Certification)
- Proactively improve visibility and communication of all compliance related documents/status to key stakeholders.
- Review, assess and implement global regulatory topics, in collaboration and dotted reporting line with global regulatory director.
- Represent US market within the global regulatory community animated by global regulatory director
Data maintenance: one source of truth
- Ensure collection of compliance data is accurate, current, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop data collection and retention process/tool; co-maintain along with Compliance Analyst.
Vendors management
- Manage outside counsel retained to represent MHUSA with respect to complex label and formula issues.
- Manage vendors relationship in case of outsourcing.
Education/Documentation:
- Act as a subject matter expert, educate key stakeholders throughout the organization, including anticipating and implementation of new regulatory requirements.
- Build, own and continuously update the current library of Compliance Manuals documenting policies and procedures, ensuring all are routinely reviewed and updated to reflect current guidelines.
- Drive continuous improvement and project: · Proactively identify improvement opportunities (processes, organization, reporting and systems).
- Implement changes to adapt to the evolving compliance and regulatory context, support company strategy and internal clients’ requirements.
- Leverage new projects and systems; work closely with 3PL, IT and related Departments.
- Foster collaboration with other departments to deliver added value to the Operations team and the Company.
Management and Leadership
- Oversee performance, training, and development of Compliance Analysist to further enrich department knowledge and performance.
- Ensure effective communication and alignment of department and company goals
Profile
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Professional Experience & Skills:
5-7 years of progressive Compliance, Logistics, Supply Chain or Operations experience in the U.S. wines and spirits industry.
Practical/Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the three-tier System (Federal and State Level)
- Strong analytical skills to support problem solving and making data-driven decisions
- Excellent organizational skills
- High-level of attention to detail and follow through
- Must have good problem-solving capability
- Strong MS Office (Excel) understanding and skills
- Demonstrated success communicating to and influencing cross-functional stakeholders, including senior leaders
- Ability to successfully implement projects
- Can react to changing parameters through agility and professionalism
