Position
Dispute Resolution:
- Dispute Management: handle legal disputes, including commercial and consumer disputes, interact with government authorities and regulatory bodies, including market supervision administrations, consumer protection associations, and other relevant agencies
- Litigation Coordination: oversee external legal counsel on litigation matters, manage pre-litigation assessment, evidence gathering and settlement negotiations
- Consumer Complaint Resolution: collaborate closely with retail stores and customer service teams to effectively manage consumer complaints, providing legal guidance, drafting and reviewing responses
Ethics & Compliance (E&C):
- Policy Development & Implementation: develop, review and implement ethics and compliance policies, procedures and guidelines, with a focus on anti-corruption, competition law and business ethics
- Compliance Training & Awareness: design and deliver engaging and effective training sessions on various E&C topics to employees
- E&C Program Management: Drive and support various E&C programs, initiatives, and investigations as required, ensuring timely execution
- Advisory & Counseling: Provide legal advice and guidance to business functions on a wide range of ethics and compliance matters
General Legal:
- Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on complex legal issues, staying abreast of legislative changes and regulatory developments impacting the luxury retail sector in China
- Internal Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the General Counsel, global legal teams, and various business stakeholders to ensure consistent application of legal principles and company policies
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a reputable university. Qualification to practice law in the Chinese Mainland is mandatory
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience, with a significant focus on dispute resolution and ethics & compliance, preferably gained in a multinational company within the retail, luxury, or consumer-facing industry, or a top-tier law firm advising such clients
- Legal Expertise:
- Profound knowledge of Chinese civil law, administrative law, consumer protection law, anti-corruption laws, competition law, and intellectual property law
- Demonstrated experience in managing litigation and regulatory investigations
- Proven track record in developing and implementing effective compliance programs
- Language Skills: Fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English
- Soft Skills:
- High level of integrity, professional ethics, and sound judgment
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, a proactive and solution-oriented approach
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at the organization and with external parties
- Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently
