From July 7 to October 5, 2025, Atelier MA in Arles welcomes the exhibition Something Moves by Caroline Corbasson, winner of the second Art & Environment Prize created by the Lee Ufan Arles art center and Maison Guerlain.
Selected from over 550 candidates by a jury headed by Lee Ufan and including Wim Wenders and Laurent Le Bon, the artist spent an eight-week residency in the heart of the ancient city to bring this unique project to life.
Created in 2023, the annual Art & Environment Prize supports an artist who explores connections between artistic creation and the environment. For Caroline Corbasson, this residency was an opportunity for an introspective work inspired by observing the sky and discovering the wind as a central theme. Invisible yet perceptible, destructive and pollinating, the wind unfolds here in works that span oil on canvas, drawing, video, photography, and poetry. From a minimalist circle that channels the eye of a hurricane, to the luminescent lines evoking a breath of air, each piece invites contemplation and emotion—much like the exhibition’s title, which plays on the double meaning of the English verb ‘to move’.
The exhibition Something Moves resonates with the deep commitment to art and nature shared by Guerlain and Lee Ufan Arles, proposing an experience at the crossroads of artistic disciplines and sensibilities. True to its iconic bee emblem and support for a range of biodiversity preservation programs, Guerlain reminds us that the wind is also “an amazing carrier of scents, effluvia, and trails”. For Lee Ufan, this partnership expresses a desire to create a space for dialogue between art, the public, and the environment. Something Moves promises to open eyes and imaginations to the poetry of a world in motion throughout the summer in Arles.
