Krug and Max Richter: every note reveals the essence of time   

Maison Krug opens a new chapter in its musical journey through an encounter with composer and pianist Max Richter.

Entitled Every Note Counts, this exceptional creation explores a compelling dialogue between taste and sound, a meeting between two worlds guided by a shared emphasis on precision, the generosity of time and carefully articulated emotion.     

This endeavor springs from an exception harvest in 2008, one of the last classic northern-climate years in Champagne. The wines inspired Cellar Master Julie Cavil to compose three distinctive expressions of Krug champagnes: Krug Clos d’Ambonnay 2008, Krug 2008 and Krug Grande Cuvée 164ème Édition. Three champagnes, three interpretations composed with patience and discipline, each revealing a defining facet of the year.   

Inspired by the sensorial richness of the three champagnes, Max Richter responded in his own language, composing three original pieces of music: Clarity, Ensemble and Sinfonia. From solo to symphony, these works translate into music the structure, tension and generosity of the wines, together forming a re-composition of the year 2008 that resonates across senses. 

The collaboration grew from immersion and exchanges. From the Champagne vineyards to the composer’s studio in Oxfordshire, the two talents explored their creative processes and shared appreciation of attention to detail, nature and balance. Their dialogue resonates with the philosophical approach of Maison Krug, where every note, visible or invisible, contributes to the harmony of the ensemble.
