The RIMOWA Design Prize, an annual student competition supported by leading German design schools, celebrates innovative concepts with a lasting impact on global issues.

Dedicated to spotlighting and nurturing the next generation of young creatives, the prize is complemented by a dedicated mentorship programme featuring high-calibre industry professionals.

On May 11, 2026 the fourth RIMOWA Design Prize ceremony was celebrated in Berlin's renowned Kulturforum. Following deliberations by a jury including RIMOWA Chief Executive Officer Beatrice Monguidi and RIMOWA Chairman Alexandre Arnault, all seven finalist projects were awarded prizes.

First place went to Samuel Nagel and Paul Feiler, from Hochschule für Gestaltung Schwäbisch Gmünd, mentored by Tim Richter, Head of Industrial Design at Siemens Healthineers. The two students presented NURA, an elegant wearable bracelet that translates sign language into spoken language and converts speech into visible text to support seamless communication between hearing-impaired and hearing individuals. The NURA device combines advanced technology with elegant aesthetics, reimagining assistive devices as visually refined accessories.

Following the final ceremony, the finalists’ projects were on view to the public until May 13th, inviting visitors to discover these promising creations first-hand.

The RIMOWA Design Prize honours all finalists with a monetary award. Beyond the mentorship programme, it also provides participants with access to valuable networking opportunities and professional workspaces to bring their concepts to fruition.
