Sephora SEA’s omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).  

 

The opportunity:

 

Assistant Manager, Category Analytics & Insights

 

The Regional Assistant Manager for Category Analytics & Insights will play a key role in strengthening and developing Sephora SEA’s analytical sophistication. The role’s key purpose is to be actively involved in driving profitable revenue growth and by providing actionable and data-driven insights for the Category Management team. 


To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong analytical mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be commercially focused; able to proactively identify business challenges and conceptualize how to use analytical techniques to solve them. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Business Reporting & Performance Tracking
    • Lead development and delivery of weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports and dashboards (e.g. via Domo) for sales, trends, and category performance.
    • Collaborate with the BI team to maintain automated reporting and ensure accuracy.
    • Support key meetings with timely business reviews and performance recaps (e.g. regional brand reviews, JBP presentations).

 

  • Strategic Insights & Category Analytics
    • Analyze sales, category, and market trends to uncover actionable insights for Category Managers and regional stakeholders.
    • Support long-term planning initiatives including Strategic Plan, Budgeting, and Key Category Strategies.
    • Partner with the Merch Analytics team across Asia on regional strategy alignment and data harmonization.

 

  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support
    • Contribute to the annual budgeting process by providing data-backed recommendations for revenue and margin planning.
    • Monitor performance vs. targets and raise early alerts with suggested actions to bridge any gaps.
    • Own the billback process between finance and category management teams, acting as gatekeeper for markdowns across the region.

 

  • Market & Consumer Insights
    • Work in conjunction with the Senior Analysis Manager for Asia to analyze Sephora’s performance within the premium beauty industry using market research tools and data sources (e.g., Beaute Research, Euromonitor).
    • Assist in quarterly market share reporting for Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, and validate data for other markets using Euromonitor and regional insights.

 

  • Reporting to
    • Functional supervision and reporting into Senior Manager, Analytics in Asia Merchandising team
    • Direct reporting into Vice President, Merchandising, SEA Markets


Requirements:

 

  • Strong academic credentials, preferably with a degree or equivalent qualification in Business Analytics, Statistics, Marketing, Finance.
  • 5+ years of experience in a data-influenced analytics role in the beauty industry (or similar retail space).
  • SQL and relational database proficiency.
  • Advanced MS Excel and MS Powerpoint skills.
  • Hands-on experience with various technologies (SAP, Domo, Tableau, Retail Pro, etc) highly desirable.
  • Strong commercial understanding, preferably with retail and e-commerce experience.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas with clarity for stakeholders at all levels.
