Digital Product Passport (DPP): Tracing the origin and life of products

Technological innovation is essential to further drive the pace of the environmental transition. That is why the introduction of the Digital Product Passport constitutes a major step forward for LVMH. The system documents every stage of the product life cycle, from raw material origin through to end-of-life solutions, via production, use and repair. It serves as a tangible demonstration of the Group’s commitment to transparency, traceability and environmental responsibility.

In 2024, LVMH continued to deploy the Digital Product Passport (DPP), in accordance with the commitments made as part of its LIFE 360 environmental strategy. The DPP constitutes a tangible response to growing expectations of transparency, traceability and circularity. The system provides customers with direct access to verified information about each product regarding raw material origin and environmental impact, as well as where the product was produced, recommendations for how it should be used, and potential solutions about how it may be repaired, reused or recycled. It leverages in robust digital infrastructure designed to guarantee the reliability and security of the data shared. The DPP was initially deployed in a number of pilot Maisons, and will be further extended gradually across the entire Group.

The Digital Product Passport also provides a response to future European regulatory requirements, especially with respect to the strategy for a Single Market for Green Products. Over and above compliance, the DPP helps to celebrate the environmentally responsible design choices made by the Maisons and encourages more sustainable consumption.
