Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel, has reopened following an 18-month renovation. Perched in the hills of Fiesole overlooking Florence, the former 15th-century Franciscan monastery enters a new era shaped by slow luxury, wellbeing and the Tuscan art of living.
Redesigned by Luigi Fragola Architects in collaboration with Belmond’s design teams, the property now features 39 reimagined rooms and suites where Renaissance heritage meets contemporary craftsmanship. Frescoes, Tuscan marble, antique furnishings, tapestries and curated artworks create interiors designed as peaceful retreats opening onto the Villa’s gardens and the Florentine landscape. Three signature suites — Limonaia, Grand Tour and Botanica — each reflect a different facet of the property’s history and Florence’s cultural heritage.
The reopening also introduces the hotel’s first-ever spa, Villa San Michele Spa by Guerlain. Located within the former convent, the new wellness space offers treatments inspired by the Renaissance and Florentine traditions. The experience continues throughout the restored terraced gardens, surrounding woodlands and a new holistic programme combining yoga, breathwork and sound healing.
Executive Chef Alessandro Cozzolino also unveils a new culinary vision inspired by seasonal ingredients and the richness of the Tuscan terroir. Newly opened fine dining restaurant Antesi joins the Villa’s dining destinations, all overlooking one of Florence’s most iconic views.
