Louis Vuitton’s Visionary Journeys has landed in Shanghai, a captivating exhibition in the heart of The Louis, a spectacular space in the shape of a ship that combines retail, Le Café Louis Vuitton and a Louis Vuitton Visionary Journeys exhibition within the façade of a boat.
Conceived as a journey across time, the Visionary Journeys immersive experience explores the House’s multifaceted heritage, from travel and innovation and fashion to craftsmanship.
Designed by architect Shohei Shigematsu (OMA), the scenography invites visitors on a voyage of discovery through historic archives, iconic creations and immersive installations. Just after the entrance, the stunning Trunkscape installation is a monumental archway composed of Monogram canvas trunks, paying tribute to the ingenuity of Louis Vuitton’s foundational creation.
Through a series of themed rooms – Origins, Voyage, Perfume, Books, Sport, Fashion, Workshop – Visionary Journeys reveals the avant-garde vision of the House, from its founding in Asnières in 1859 through contemporary creations by Marc Jacobs, Nicolas Ghesquière, Virgil Abloh or Pharrell Williams. From the Library Trunk owned by Ernest Hemingway to perfumes created by Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, each piece embodies the intimate relationship between savoir-faire, creativity and art de vivre.
With Visionary Journeys, Louis Vuitton continues to share its cultural heritage with an avid public, celebrating travel as a space for self-expression, emotion and innovation.
As a contemporary tribute to the origins of travel, “The Louis“ draws inspiration from Louis Vuitton’s 19th-century history of crafting trunks for transoceanic voyages while reflecting Shanghai’s port culture as the “Gateway to the East.“ Situated on Wujiang Road in the city’s central business district, this exceptional structure stands out amidst surrounding buildings – from the elegant prow and hull embellished with a metallic Monogram, to the deck and the stacked upper levels resembling historic trunks.
Exhibition open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 10pm— HKRI Taikoo Hui, Shanghai. Admission is complimentary following registration via “My LV” on WeChat.
