Organized with support from LVMH, the 24th Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival revealed promising young designers. Prize-winners this year in this springboard for international talents were Marite Mastina and Rolands Peterkops (Latvia), Simon-Pierre Toussaint (France) and Linus Bill (Switzerland).

The Fashion jury, led by Kris Van Assche, awarded the Grand Prize to Marite Mastina and Rolands Peterkops for their mixed collection inspired by the stereotypes of film noir crime movies. The collection combined detectives’ raincoats, heroines’ glamorous gowns and outsized wigs for an assured surrealistic look.

The City of Hyères Public Prize went to Simon-Pierre Toussaint (France) for his menswear collection called “The trees can hear if you talk to them”. His baroque creations expressed the uncertainties of adolescence through boy scout codes, colors and materials, including windbreakers, knits and wool sweaters.
