The Fondation Louis Vuitton has unveiled a temporary digital showcase where visitors can follow work in progress ahead of the opening, scheduled for 2014.
Conceived by architect Frank Gehry as a sailing vessel floating above the trees amidst the Bois de Boulogne, the Foundation brings a new center of arts and culture to Western Paris. With 12 immense glass sails, the building’s construction represents unprecedented technological challenges to successfully embody a dialogue between tradition and modernity.
The site includes a sketch of the building and Frank Gehry’s creative inspirations. Photos of scale models reveal a structure that expresses the idea of transparency, joining emblematic glass buildings in Paris like the Grand Palais.
The site also shows work in progress. Videos feature the ballet of cranes and the bustling army of workers who are bringing this massive project to fruition. The experience creates a total immersion in a truly extraordinary project.
A new website will be launched in June to provide easy access to the latest news about the Foundation.
