The Musée des Arts Décoratifs will welcome a sublime exhibition from March 9th to September 16th 2012, centered on the two people who made Louis Vuitton into a fashion phenomenon: founder Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, the iconoclast designer.
The two-level exhibition includes a section on the destiny of Louis Vuitton during the industrialization of the late 19th century, and another that examines how the company has transformed the codes of fashion under the inspired creativity of Marc Jacobs. Vintage trunks are joined by some of the designer’s signature creations, testimony to the affirmed Vuitton style.
Marc Jacobs has since 1997 regularly worked with guest artists and delved into his own imagination to freely revisit the identity of an icon in the art of travel. In the latest collaboration, he has invited Yayoi Kusama to apply her famous “dot obsession” to Louis Vuitton products.
