Invited for the first time in its history to decorate the famous Christmas windows at Paris department store Galeries Lafayette, Louis Vuitton created a menagerie that would make even Noah jealous, bringing an exotic festive spirit to Boulevard Haussmann. The theme of this year’s display is "The Ball of the Century".
Inspired by the trunkmaker’s emblematic universe of travel, the windows feature dancing animal puppets from around the world: bears, pandas, pink flamingos, penguins and more. The furry and feathered friends are joined by hand-painted puppets decked out head to toe in Louis Vuitton.
The holiday windows were inaugurated on November 6 by French model Loulou Robert, much-remarked at the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2013 runway show. She arrived at Boulevard Haussmann atop Dumba the elephant to illuminate the display.
The festivities also mark the 100th anniversary of the store’s renowned Art Nouveau glass dome. The animation in the 11 Christmas windows at Galeries Lafayette is a highlight of the holiday season, delighting young and old alike.
