Position
LVUSM is seeking a Technical Manager with a bright and vibrant attitude having a desire to drive the industrialization and development of new products of leather goods for the site. Ensures the deadlines, cost and quality for technical design, development and industrialization of new products is respected. Ensures the application of best practices of prototyping, industrialization and maintenance.
Profile
Industrialization and Development of New Products
As head of industrialization and development of new products for the site:
- Provide interface with the site teams (logistics, production, continuous improvement, finance) and Headquarters so that industrialization and development projects are carried out within the deadlines while respecting costs, quality and ergonomics.
- Be a change agent for the development of products
- Adapt, standardize, and deploy the project management tools
- Supervise the development of product mock-ups, while interacting with the creative design teams
- Interact with European workshops to share best practices of prototyping and solutions to technical problems
As head of production:
- Ensure technical feasibility during the design of a product according to the leader facility
- Ensure coordination between the manufacturing and technical teams
- Support production teams during the validation and ramp-up of new products to meet the "Start of Sales" goals
- Maintain oversight and keep abreast of all technological evolutions (products, processes and equipment)
Budget and Investment Management
- Define and follow budgets of the onsite Technical Department
- Responsible for budget management related to workshop equipment and other fixed assets
- Manage the machinery of the workshops in collaboration with the maintenance and continuous improvement teams (new equipment, innovations, etc.)
- Validate the technical standards of suppliers based on production targets
- Oversee the direct costing of the workshop (manpower, consumption materials, etc.)
- Improve the product margin and optimize the implementation of industrial techniques
- Identify solutions to minimize costs by optimizing the needs and leveraging competition
Management
- Ensure the integration and training of technical teams for products and equipment (development, industrialization, and maintenance)
- Manage the development of direct report competencies
- Organize technical projects for the development of new products, ensuring their implementation while respecting the deadlines, costs and quality
- Contribute actively to the network of technical managers worldwide and share site initiatives
- Carry out internal and external benchmarks
- Lead and participate in cross-functional working teams
- Support with constant changes and improvements
- Promote the development of the site's technical "know-how"
Additional information
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Industrial Manufacturing or equivalent
- Minimum 8 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience in Project and Change Management is required
- Ability to motivate teams and lead change at all levels of the organization
- Passion for innovation and creativity
- Ability to build a network to facilitate the decision-making process and anticipate changes
- Visionary, management of transversal projects, and organizational changes
- Strong sense of urgency
- Strong analytical and negotiating skills
- Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Fluent in English & Spanish / French is a plus
- Travel is required (10%)
