Responsible consumption at Moët Hennessy

Promoting moderate consumption and responsible choices

As leader of luxury wines and spirits with iconic Maisons, we promote the art of tasting and invite our consumers to discover our Heritage and savoir-faire. We are also fully aware that our first societal responsibility is to prevent risks associated with harmful alcohol consumption. Moët Hennessy is committed to promoting moderate consumption and responsible choices about alcohol both towards our employees and consumers.

Crafting experiences requires us to help adult consumers make responsible choices about whether, when and how much to drink. Alerting and educating our consumers, customers and employees on risky behaviors such as excessive consumption or drunk driving is a priority. Some people should not drink at all, and we notably take a strong stance against underage drinking. We also believe that pregnant women should be better informed of the risks linked to the consumption of alcohol for their child.

Supporting public health

Moët Hennessy fully supports the World Health Organization’s goal of reducing harmful drinking by 10% worldwide by 2025.

Moët Hennessy joined the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking in October 2021, the leading industry group dedicated to the promotion of responsible drinking. Moët Hennessy is committed to meeting the IARD standards on digital marketing, consumer information and labelling, e-commerce and working with our industry peers to further the responsible drinking agenda. Our implementation plans will be deployed over the 2021-2025 period and build on previous commitments.

For example, Moët Hennessy developed a first comprehensive Code for Responsible Communication and Marketing more than 15 years ago. The Code has been regularly reviewed since then, and more recently to reflect the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking Digital Principles and Digital Influencers Principles. Marketeers are trained on the Marketing Code, which is also systematically shared with our external agencies. Moreover, Moët Hennessy is a member of the World Federation of Advertisers’ Responsible Marketing Pact against minors’ exposure to alcohol beverage marketing.

Raising awareness with our employees

Our corporate culture is built on moderation and responsible tasting and constantly empowers our employees to be exemplary ambassadors of responsible consumption.

Conscious of the need to raise internal awareness on responsible consumption, we have developed specific trainings for employees as well as events guidelines for Maisons and Markets.

Industry initiatives

Moët Hennessy is an ambassador for the global association “Wine in Moderation – Art de vivre” which brings together wine players from around the world to demonstrate social responsibility.

At local level, Moët Hennessy also supports national industry initiatives for responsible drinking such as Responsibility.org in the US, Prevention & Moderation in France, and other local initiatives.

INSIDE LVMH Events

Having been committed to supporting the next generations of talents since our founding, LVMH was an industry pioneer back in 1991, creating the first luxury Chair with a top international business school.

Since then, LVMH has developed a solid strategy deployed thanks to the support and actions of all its Maisons. LVMH is currently a major partner of 12 top schools and universities worldwide, including ESSEC, HEC Paris, Institut Français de la Mode, Ecole Polytechnique, CentraleSupélec, Sciences Po Paris and EDHEC in France, Central Saint Martins and London School of Economics in the UK, Bocconi University in Italy, Singapore Management University, and the global alliance for management education CEMS.

LVMH, Founding Partner of VivaTech

In 2023, no fewer than 18 LVMH Maisons presented 25 innovations in two dedicated spaces: The Dream Box & The LVMH Court.

The Dream Box was a spectacular setting of subtly changing colors in which the Group and its Maisons showcase some of the innovations. The Dream Box was also home to the 18 finalist startups of the 2023 LVMH Innovation Award, as well as six alumni startups whose solutions have already helped enhanced the customer experience of tomorrow.

For the very first time at VivaTech, LVMH had set up a space entirely dedicated to innovation in sports, to discover LVMH Maisons’ solutions to improve the sports experience for athletes and enthusiasts alike.

Also featured at VivaTech 2023: our Talents, from the HR Corner of the Dream Box to the many talks on LVMH’s or VivaTech’s stages.

LVMH Corporate Philanthropy

LVMH pursues an innovative and ambitious corporate philanthropy policy in support of the arts and culture. A pillar of the vision for LVMH articulated by Bernard Arnault, this commitment is pursued with a long-term perspective. Support for a wide range of initiatives serving the general interest resonates with the creativity, excellence, innovation and desire to perpetuate unique skills and heritage that inspire the entrepreneurial spirit of all LVMH Maisons and unify them.

LVMH has since the early 1990s developed a broad philanthropy program with a focus on several areas, notably promoting and sharing culture – with a special emphasis on youth – renovating and enriching historical heritage and supporting contemporary artistic creation. Support for more than 60 major exhibitions in France and around the world – from London to New York and from Shanghai to Moscow – has enabled millions of visitors to experience defining moments in the history of art and discover seminal artists who have changed the way we look at the world. In addition to past masters such as Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, Klein, Poussin, Cézanne or Giacometti, these events have also celebrated contemporary artists including Richard Serra, Annette Messager, Cindy Sherman, Olafur Eliasson, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Gerhard Richter, Christian Boltanski and others.

An exceptional donation in 2019 of 200 million euros to help save and restore Notre Dame de Paris after it was ravaged by a terrible fire, is one of the more recent and most prominent examples of our commitment to preserving, enriching and promoting historical heritage. Within the scope of its corporate philanthropy actions LVMH has established close relations with leading cultural institutions in France and around the world. LVMH provided support for the exhibition “Les Tables Royales en Europe” at the Château de Versailles, enabling the acquisition of several national treasures, including the writing table made by Riesener for Queen Marie-Antoinette, and a silver jug given to Louis XIV by the King of Siam. LVMH’s patronage also enabled restoration of the Africa, Crimea and Italy rooms in the château, as well as the Réchauffoir in the Queen’s Hamlet.

For more than 25 years LVMH has supported a broad cultural program for youth, art education and encouraging young artists. Nearly 50,000 students from Paris music conservatories have been able to attend exceptional concerts during the Paris season thanks to the “1,000 seats for youth” program. And for many years LVMH has enabled the “Orchestra at School” association to purchase musical instruments, letting hundreds of students learn to play an instrument across France. Young virtuosos have taken master classes with Seiji Ozawa thanks to the Group’s support for the International Music Academy, while loans of Stradivarius instruments from the LVMH collection currently allow virtuosos Renaud and Gauthier Capuçon and Daniel Lozakovich to express the full range of their talent on international stages.

Since 2014, the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris has provided a permanent structure for the Group’s philanthropy commitments and helped make LVMH a prominent member of the international arts and culture community.

LVMH Métiers d’Art

ENRICH SAVOIR-FAIRE AND INSPIRE CREATIVITY

To preserve the manufacture of exceptional materials and engage with the future, LVMH Métiers d’Art supports transmission of skills, innovation and closer ties between its manufacturers and LVMH Maisons. LVMH Métiers d’Art supports artisans by continually stimulating their innovation, at the same time ensuring that LVMH Maisons enjoy access to exceptional materials.

MAKING EXCEPTIONAL MATERIALS, TODAY AND TOMORROW

LVMH Métiers d’Art is currently active in leather, exotic leathers and high-quality metal hardware around the world.

In leather, LVMH Métiers d’Art supports activities in France, Italy and Spain, covering every stage from raising livestock, with its partner Domaine des Massifs, to manufacturing luxury leather ready-to-wear, with Robans, as well as tanning and finishing, with Tanneries Roux, Masoni and Riba Guixà, in order to supply the most exquisite calfskin and lambskin leathers.

In exotic leathers, LVMH Métiers d’Art fields expertise in animal husbandry thanks to a network of animal welfare certified farms in Africa, Australia and the United States. It also owns the Heng Long tannery, a global leader in tanning and finishing of crocodilian leather, with operations in Singapore and Italy.

In addition, LVMH Métiers d’Art includes manufacturers Menegatti, GBJM and Jade, among the leading producers of high-end metal hardware for luxury brands in Europe and Asia.

INITIATING ARTISTIC DIALOGUE AROUND HIGH-END MATERIALS

LVMH Métiers d’Art has since 2016 sponsored an artist in residence program. Each year, the program invites an artist to discover one of its manufacturing facilities. This immersion leads to a singular artistic creation that elevates the raw materials and the exceptional expertise of the host manufacture.

Reflecting its commitment to ensuring that the manufacturing of exceptional materials actively engages with the future, the LVMH Métiers d’Art residency brings together the vision of an artist with that of the artisans who make the materials, stimulating creativity and innovative approaches to continually open new paths.

La Maison des Startups

This initiative will drive co-creation by LVMH Maisons and startups to bring new services and innovative products to market. By launching La Maison des Startups in the heart of the world’s biggest startup campus, LVMH reaffirms its values of innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and excellence, the pillars that anchor the Group’s growth.

La Maison des Startups will accelerate collaboration between LVMH Maisons and startups whose solutions have potential in the luxury industry, giving entrepreneurs privileged access to the unique ecosystem formed by the Group’s 70 Maisons. The program’s distinctive multi-sector approach enables engagement with entrepreneurs whose innovations are relevant to the different LVMH business groups: Wines & Spirits, Fashion & Leather Goods, Perfumes & Cosmetics, Watches & Jewelry and Selective Retailing.

With 89 workstations, the LVMH program at STATION F will welcome 50 international startups each year during two six-month terms. The first group joined the campus in November 2017.

Over half the startups that have joined the program were selected after competing for the LVMH Innovation Award at the Viva Technology show. LVMH managers whose projects won awards at the different editions of DARE LVMH, an initiative that encourages intrapreneurship in the luxury industry, are also invited to STATION F to launch their projects.

In addition to a unique workspace and environment that inspire innovation, the LVMH program at STATION F lets entrepreneurs benefit from personalized coaching and support from LVMH experts. A series of workshops allows the startups to familiarize themselves with challenges facing the luxury industry, and pitch sessions are regularly organized to let them present the development of their solutions to representatives of LVMH Maisons.

LVMH Innovation Award

The award reaffirms the importance of initiative and new ideas, resonating with the Group’s core values of excellence, creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.

The LVMH Innovation Award is open to any startup created within the past five years with a valuation of under $100 million, fewer than 50 employees, and whose solutions are relevant to the challenges addressed by the LVMH Group and its Maisons.

Each year 30 startups are chosen as finalists and invited to be part of the LVMH Lab during the Viva Technology Show in Paris, which brings together the game changers who are driving the digital transformation around the world. Co-organized by Publicis Group and media group Les Echos, this major event – of which LVMH is a partner – enables businesses that are leaders in their industry to build strong relationships with startups and help them grow.

The finalists present pitches to a jury of recognized digital experts, which then selects the winner. The winning startup receives support and advice from LVMH Group investment specialists and develops a partnership with LVMH and its Maisons. Both the winner and the finalist startups selected for the LVMH Innovation Award also have an opportunity to join the Group’s incubator at Station F : La Maison des Startups LVMH.

The startups that have won the LVMH Innovation Award since its creation are Heuritech (deep learning), Oyst (e-commerce solution), VeChain (blockchain), Kronos Care (post-purchase solution), 3D Look (trial experience), Crobox (Customer Behavior Analysis), Bambuser (Live Stream Shopping), TOSHI (Operations & Manufacturing Excellence) and Save Your Wardrobe (Omnichanel & Retail).

DARE

In line with LVMH values of creativity and innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and excellence, DARE invites each talent to share their ideas for business transformation, and to develop these ideas into concrete projects using startup methodologies – thus contributing to the growth and transformation of the Group.

The program has been at the forefront of the LVMH entrepreneurship movement since 2017, with a growing community of over 15 000 talents. It mobilizes talents in all Maisons, verticals, regions and savoir-faire across the Group.

The DARE platform is live all year long for talents to propose innovative ideas, connect and collaborate. With thousands of ideas on display across all business categories, the DARE platform is also a unique opportunity for Maisons to leverage collective intelligence at LVMH.

Talents are selected to live DARE events, organised online or physical on a regular basis, where they are provided all the startup tools and methodology to accelerate their projects and build teams with the support of Open Innovation experts, mentors and facilitators.

Participants are supported by mentors – CEOs from LVMH Maisons and external entrepreneurs –to help them refine their business model, test their prototype and prepare their final pitch. This is a unique opportunity for participants to see how their ideas stand up in the eyes of business experts.

At the end of each session, future intrapreneurs are invited to pitch their project to a jury of LVMH top executives and external experts or entrepreneurs. The winning teams receive support from LVMH sponsors to develop their project.

The program has already supported the launch and acceleration of over 52 innovative projects, including Shero (the global LVMH platform giving LVMH talent the power to realize their ambition), the Inclusion Index (the observatory and accelerator of Diversity and Inclusion within the Group), Nona Source (the first online resale platform which re-values deadstock fabrics and leathers from the most exclusive French Maisons de Couture) and Heristoria (a recently launched platform that curates and sells iconic millesime pieces from LVMH Maisons).

The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers

Its concept, content and international scope are unprecedented, and each edition of the LVMH Prize recognizes the talent of a particularly outstanding designer, selected by a jury of Artistic Directors from our Houses.

“The LVMH Prize aims to support young fashion designers. This sponsorship initiative reflects the values of our Group: our designers single out the talent of tomorrow, and they are rewarded and supported through the development of their House. Our ambition is to nurture the vitality and creativity of the fashion world at the international level. As a leader in our sector, it is our responsibility to discover young talents and help them to develop,” explains Delphine Arnault, Executive Vice-President of Louis Vuitton.

The winner of the LVMH prize will receive a 300,000 euro grant and personalized assistance in the development of his or her company from a specific team within the Group, over a period of twelve months, as from the presentation of the LVMH Prize. This assistance is available from all the areas of expertise which may interest a burgeoning fashion House (production and distribution, image and communication, marketing, intellectual property, and so on).

LVMH also rewards three young fashion design graduates, offering them the chance to spend a year with the creative team at one of the Group’s Houses.

Since its first edition, the LVMH Prize has rewarded several talents: Thomas Tait, Miuniki, Hood by Air, Marques’Almeida, Simon Porte Jacquemus, Grace Wales Bonner, Vejas Kruszewski, Marine Serre, Kozaburo Akasaka, Masayuki Ino, Rok Hwang, …
